Dual Currency
We heard that UNHCR and WFP are disbursing cash assistance in dual currency, what does it mean and what are the implications on refugees?
Disbursement of cash assistance in dual currency means that all families receiving cash assistance will be able to redeem their available balance in either USD or LBP at BLF ATMs, selected BoB Finance branches, or any shop with a payment machine using their active Red Card.
ATMs can provide $100and $10 notes only. Amounts below $10 will not be redeemable in USD at ATMs. You can redeem amounts below $10 in LBP at WFP contracted shops and at ATMs and at selected BOB Finance branches. You can also choose to accumulate and redeem small balances in multiples of $ 10 the following month.
If you wish to redeem your assistance in LBP, note that the exchange rate is determined on a monthly basis and displayed on the ATM screen for your information.
